CoinHub Journal

Our Editorial Standards

Good coin information needs clear sources, honest context and a way to fix mistakes.

Who publishes the Journal

CoinHub Media publishes the CoinHub Journal. Blake Alma founded our coin business, which is based in Lebanon, Ohio. We cover coin collecting, mint errors and varieties, coin history, and news that matters to collectors. CoinHub also has business interests in coins, precious metals, jewelry and books.

Authors and experience

Each article names its author and keeps its first publication date. Learn about Blake Alma on his author page. We make clear when a claim comes from a source and when it comes from our own experience. An author's name on a page does not make another person's account our own firsthand report.

Sources and context

We link to original sources when we can. These include mint news, grading-service guides, auction records and official documents. Our news reports say what happened, when, what we know and what is still unclear. Guides explain what is already known. An old fact does not become a new discovery just because we write a new guide.

An auction price, a coin's metal value and a dealer's offer are different things. We give the dates, grades, units and limits that help readers judge those figures. A photo or online guide alone cannot prove that your coin is genuine. It cannot identify every variety or guarantee what you will sell it for.

Corrections and updates

To report a possible error, use our contact page. Include the article link, the claim in question and evidence to support your concern. We review concerns supported by evidence.

Major factual fixes should be explained on the article. Major updates keep the first publication date and show an update date. Routine site upkeep does not make an old story new.

Our business interests and photos

We should tell you when our own products or business ties matter to a story. We should also make it clear when we are paid for a link. Paid promotions must be clearly set apart from news reports.

Our standard is to use photos and other media with documented permission or a license that allows that use. We credit the source. A made-up coin photo cannot stand in for real evidence.
