October 14 order-limit update: The Mint's 26GC product page now lists the household order limit as None. The $60 price, 99,792 mintage limit and no listed product limit are unchanged. The initial launch limit was two sets per household. These are October 14 listing checks, not a guarantee of later stock or the exact time the limit changed.

October 13 launch update: At the October 13 launch check, the Mint's 26GC page offered Add to Bag at the listed $60 price. The household limit was then two sets, with a mintage limit of 99,792 and no listed product limit. These are checks made after the scheduled noon Eastern release; they do not guarantee later stock.

The 2026 American Innovation reverse proof set was scheduled to go on sale October 13 at noon Eastern. The U.S. Mint lists the four-coin set, item 26GC, at $60 with an initial limit of two sets per household. It contains the Iowa, Wisconsin, California and Minnesota dollar designs struck at San Francisco.

The finish sets this group apart from other 2026 Innovation dollars. These are reverse-proof coins, with frosted backgrounds and reflective designs. A roll of ordinary Philadelphia or Denver dollars is a different product, even when the pictures show the same state design.

The release details to save

The Mint announced the release on October 6. Its 26GC product page supplied the following details when checked October 7. Recheck that page before ordering; a listed limit is not a promise of stock.

Mintage limit and product limit mean two different things. Mintage counts a coin across all products. Product limit applies to just one set or other item. “None” in the second field does not erase the stated mintage limit or mean unlimited stock. Neither number tells us the final quantity sold.

Four designs, one collector finish

Iowa honors Norman Borlaug, known for his work with crops. Wisconsin depicts the Cray-1 supercomputer. California honors Steve Jobs, and Minnesota recognizes mobile refrigeration with an early refrigerated truck. The set gathers these four subjects in one finish and package.

Each coin shares a Statue of Liberty portrait on the front. For 2026, the small gear-shaped mark also contains a Liberty Bell and “250.” This is a privy mark: an added design symbol. The date, S mint mark and E PLURIBUS UNUM are on the edge. S identifies San Francisco, where this set's coins are made.

About the image: The Iowa coin shown above is the Mint's uncirculated design reference. It shows the Borlaug design. It does not show the set or its reverse-proof finish. The actual set has a different finish.

Reverse proof names the finish. It is not a grade. Here the open background looks frosted while the design reflects light. It also does not mean a coin is made of precious metal. These dollars are primarily copper, with zinc, manganese and nickel. Their gold color does not make them gold coins.

Check the product before comparing prices

To compare two listings, check the year, finish, coin count and box. One California dollar is not the same as this set. Nor is a group of P and D coins. CoinHub's Steve Jobs dollar guide covers the California issue separately.

For example, a listing headed “2026 Innovation dollars” may omit the finish. Look for 26GC and a description of all four reverse-proof coins before comparing it with the Mint's $60 offering. If the seller is unclear, note what is missing. Do not assume the items match.

The $60 figure is the Mint's listed price. It does not predict what the set might sell for later. A dealer's asking price also does not prove a sale. We do not yet know how fast the set will sell or what it will bring when resold.

Collectors following the series can use the Mint's American Innovation program page to place the four designs within the larger series. For this release, keep the task simple: confirm 26GC, the reverse-proof finish and the current order terms on the official product page.
